Letchworth Open

Wed 18 Sept – Sat 9 Nov 2024

This autumn, I'm excited to be exhibiting my Kilkenny limestone Head at the Letchworth Open, Hertfordshire’s biggest art exhibition!

I was born and raised in Hertfordshire but only visited Letchworth for the first time this summer. I loved it. Few other towns preserve such a specific moment in time and the ideals that Letchworth were built on felt alive and well to me.

So having exhibited in one garden city (Harlow) last year, I'm very happy to be able to tick off another one!

I am the only stone carver represented at Letchworth this year but there's no shortage of great sculptures in the exhibition.

If you're in the area, please do drop into the lovely Broadway Gallery right in the heart of town. It's free to visit.

Winning work

In 2024, my Clipsham stone sculpture entitled Work won the sculpture prize at the Harlow (aka Sculpture Town) Open exhibition.

This was my first prize for sculpture and made extra special because my grandparents were among the first to move to Harlow after the New Town was built in the 1950s.

Harlow is called Sculpture Town because of its public sculpture trail which features work by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth and many more.

My sculpture was exhibited in the Gibberd Gallery, named after Sir Frederick Gibberd, the architect and town planner responsible for Harlow. Downstairs sits Henry Moore's Harlow Family Group sculpture (1954).
