Dreadbot (Kilkenny limestone, 2024)

Inspired by pre-Columbian sculptures of gods of fire and war,  Dreadbot offers an unsettling effigy for our own disturbing times. Not-so-primitive-art meets humanity's impending digital doom.

Having previously enjoyed carving curves, I've come to prefer the striking contrasts of light and shadow produced by straight edges. Kilkenny limestone gave the strength these edges needed but also myriad fossils, including of ancient coral, to complete this bridge between the distant past and an uncertain future.

Work (Clipsham Stone, 2023)

Winner of the Harlow (Sculpture Town) prize for sculpture 2024, Work combines my academic interest in the history of work with Cypriot ceramic sculptures which often depict people completing tasks such as carrying sheep. Work depicts my wife catching up on emails late in to the evening.

Head (Kilkenny limestone, 2024)

Head confronts AI and the extraction of Rare Earths. Recalling ancient so-called primitive carvings, it considers humanity's uncertain advanced technology future.
